Synopsis:	The story of NOEL DAVIS (Gregory Hines) a successful song composer with a bad case of writer's block. Reduced to writing clunkers, he considers quitting music. Note even Dakota's cat EMERALD (Eartha Kit) can get through to him. But when MELODY SONGBIRD (Patti Labelle) enters their lives magical things begin to happen.
