LOVE FOR RENT tells the story of Colombian immigrant and law student, Sofia (Angie Cepeda) who feels her controlled life slipping away after her vengeful husband, whom she married to obtain her Green Card, steals her belongings and threatens to file for divorce, which would result in her deportation back to Colombia.
In debt and striving to take care of herself, Sofia agrees to rent her body and her soul for $50,000 to become a surrogate mother to Frank and Helen Bauman (Jim Piddock, Nora Dunn), a wealthy and eccentric couple unable to have a baby of their own. Throughout the ordeal, the life that Sofia has come to know starts to fall apart as her heart, will and determination are tested more than ever. |
