Variety says that the cosmic cruising Silver Surfer will make his first big screen appearance in next year's Fantastic Four sequel. Silver Surfer is one of the most loved characters in the Marvel Comics world.
The mysterious, metallic-toned Silver Surfer made his first comic book appearance in Fantastic Four #48 in 1966, the co-creation of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Twentieth Century Fox plans for a July 4, 2007 theatrical release of Fantastic Four 2. The entire fab four cast -- Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans -- are expected back for the sequel as is director Tim Story. The studio has yet to decide between two competing scripts for the film, one by X2: X-Men United writer Mark Frost and another from My Super Ex-Girlfriend's Don Payne.
Could the inclusion of the Silver dude mean an outer space storyline the next Fantastic Four? Could we also see an appearance by SS's creator, the godlike Galactus? Could Michael Chiklis' Thing costume be any more awkward-looking?
