Elizabeth Banks eyes First Lady role

I'm sure all the staunch conservatives will be second-guessing this pick. No, not John McCain as Republican candidate for President in the 2008 election, but Elizabeth Banks as first lady Laura Bush in Oliver Stone's biopic W.

Banks just completed filming on Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno this month and word on the street is that she's in talks to play the soon-to-be lame duck first lady. She's also in this summer's Eddie Murphy comedy Meet Dave.

Josh Brolin has already been cast as President George W. Bush and Stone has shown a certain bit of flair for presidential tributes with 1995's Nixon and JFK.

UPDATE: James Cromwell (George H.W. Bush) and Ellen Burstyn (Barbara Bush) have been added to the cast as well.
