NBC and My Name is Earl's loss is Kevin Smith's gain. After last month's sad news that My Name is Earl, one of the funniest and most underrated show on TV, was cancelled, the one bright spot was knowing that the move would free up Jason Lee's schedule to film more movies.
It didn't take long for Lee to book his first gig and it's no real surprise that he'll be in long-time friend and collaborator Kevin Smith's A Couple of Dicks. Dicks will be the seventh studio picture in which the two have paired together. Jason Lee and Kevin Smith were also involved together in two smaller, independent movies for friends, A Better Place and Drawing Flies.
Smith made the announcement on Kevin Pollak's Chat Show when he guested last night. He didn't reveal Lee's role, but did say that he'd film for a few days. A Couple of Dicks also stars Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, Seann William Scott, Adam Brody and the aforementioned Pollak. Filming is currently ongoing in New York City with a targeted release date of February 26, 2010.
