Ever since they announced that Jackie Earle Haley was set to slip into Freddy Krueger's glove, I started to get excited for the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street. To be honest, reboots don't really do much for me and I'm a complete sellout for the originals, but there's just something innately creepy about Haley that I think will breathe new life into Freddy.
To the right, you will see Robert Englund's original portrayal of Freddy Krueger, a child killer who is burned alive by the vengeful parents of his victims only to come back from the dead to haunt a new generation of teens in their dreams.
Below, you will see the cleverly shadowed first image of Jackie Earle Haley's Freddy Krueger that first appeared on MySpace. While his face is mostly blacked out, we can clearly see that the brown fedora, razor glove and red and green striped shirt all carry forward in this incarnation.
I've tried my best to play with the image in PhotoShop but it seems that they did a good job of insuring that the face would remain obscured. It does appear that with the limited detail we can see that the burns on Freddy's face will be more realistic and less grotesque.
