Spielberg set to direct tall, invisible rabbit

Steven Spielberg is certainly no stranger to directing interesting characters. I mean he's overseen sharks, aliens and dinosaurs (oh my), but he might be in for a whole different type of chore when he gets set to bark his orders to a six foot tall invisible rabbit.

Yes, the fourth sign of the apocalypse is upon us: Steven Spielberg is directing a remake of Harvey. Forget 2012, at the rate we're going, we won't make it out of 2011.

You all know how I feel about remakes in general, but I'm sorry there are a few movies that I think are untouchable. And yes, we've had this discussion before and I still think some movies shouldn't be touched with a 10 foot pole. Honestly, how do you think Spielberg and company would feel if J.J. Abrams and his Lost cronies remake Jaws with DHARMA sharks?

There is no timetable in place for sure, but indications are that Harvey could film at the beginning of next year for a late 2010 or early 2011 start. And no, Tom Hanks has not been cast yet, but I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of time.

What do you think of tall, invisible rabbits? More importantly, is this remake trend a sign of the end of times for Hollywood?
