Worst Trailer Ever: Snow White breaks the 'Mirror'

I've seen some bad trailers in my day. I've also seen good trailers for terrible movies and crappy trailers for movies that weren't half bad.

In my continuing quest to find the "Worst Trailer Ever," I was surprised to find a candidate in a trailer that just debuted last week. A couple of weeks ago we featured the trailer for that other Snow White movie Snow White and the Huntsman and even then I said, "the Snow White war is over before the first shot was even fired."

And now that Mirror, Mirror has shot back, I'm even more convinced than ever that Snow White and the Huntsman will be the better film. I would say more successful as well, but I've learned long ago not to make any assumptions when it comes to public consumption.

I mean how else do you explain the fact that Kevin James isn't standing in some unemployment line right now? But, I digress.

To be fair, this isn't the worst trailer that I've ever seen, but it's downright terrible. Instead of bringing evilness to the Queen, Julia Roberts aims for slightly irritating with a dash of being misunderstood. The most memorable thing about Lily Collins portrayal of Snow White won't be her skin, lips or hair, but the two wooly caterpillars that they trained to perch right above Collins's eyes.

Now to be fair I haven't yet read the original Grimm tale upon which Snow White is based, but I'm pretty sure that big bushy eyebrows wasn't one of the traits that Snow White was renown for. And don't even get me started on the neutered version of the prince played by Armie Hammer or the simple caricatures of the seven dwarfs.

It's pretty obvious after seeing this trailer that Tarsem is going more style than substance and hoping that the family friendly approach will translate into box office success. He's probably right on the latter, but my money will be spent on Snow White and the Huntsman, What about you?

Mirror, Mirror hits theaters on June 29, 2012.
