Man, what a weekend, eh?
Normally, the weekend is a dead period when it comes to movie-related news because the studio PR peeps usually work a normal Monday to Friday work week. This weekend was an exception to the rule.
There were so many big news items leaking out that it might take us a day or two to get caught up. What, is it Christmas time or something? Oh yeah, I guess it is.
First up is the newest poster from The Dark Knight Rises. Let's be frank, Warner Bros. could simply slap a bat symbol on a white background with a date and we will wait in line for the pleasure of seeing the third movie in the Christopher Nolan trilogy.
But those folks at the WB don't simply want us to show up at the theater, they want us to be salivating so much that we would literally kill someone to see this movie. At looking at today's offering, I'm almost there.
The poster that you can see below confirms what has been floated around the Internet that this film will indeed be the last Christopher Nolan helmed Batman movie. It features the tagline "The Legend Ends" and shows a shot of Bane's back as he walks away from a broken Batman costume.
I don't know much about Bane's story arc in the comics, but I do know (spoiler?) that he breaks Batman's back and is considered one of Batman's most formidable foes. Now, I'm pretty sure that Warner Bros. wouldn't let Nolan kill off their cash cow, but I think we will see some sort of resolution to the arc that has been developed in the last two movies.
Check out the poster below and let us know what you think. Sadly, you won't be able to see The Dark Knight Rises until it debuts on theaters on July 20, 2012. But, you can get your first look in theaters this weekend. At IMAX showings of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, they will show an 8 minute prolog to The Dark Knight Rises.
And there are Internet whispers that we'll see our first full-length trailer this weekend. Stay tuned.
