• Steve was raised at the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park by his animal naturalist parents.
• He is married to Terri Irwin, another naturalist. They have one daughter. Bindi Sue.
• His daughter is named after his favorite crocodile (Bindi) and his dog (Sue).
• Although he handles venemous snakes and dangerous crocodiles, Steve is petrified of parrots.
• He has a species of turtle named after him - Elseya Irwini.
• Steve's father taught him how to jump and handle crocodiles before he was nine years old.
• Steve is the most successful participant in the crocodile relocation program in Australia.
• Steve's wife Terri is on every episode of 'Croc Files.'
