• Matthew is married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
• Matthew met Sarah when he was directing her brother Toby in a play. She came to his rehearsal one day and the pair have been inseparable since.
• Matthew's father died in a car accident when Matt was 20 years old.

• In 1987, Matthew and then girlfriend Jennifer Grey were in Ireland and were involved in a fatal car crash. Matthew hit another car and the two women died. He plead guilty to a reckless driving charge and was fined $175. Matthew says it still haunts him to this day.
• Matthew and Sarah live in a townhouse in SoHo.
• Matthew doesn't use shaving cream, but instead hot cream and a brush.
• Matthew replaces his old shoes with the exact same style of lace up shoes from Brooks Brothers. He has worn them for years.
