• Maria attended Villanova University and majored in political science. Her plans were to become a lawyer, but she took an acting class her senior year and found out she had the gift.
• Maria starred in several off-Broadway plays before getting television roles.
• She had a few guest appearances on the tv drama "ER" where she impressed the directors and she was offered a regular role for the next season.
• Maria is trained in mo thai lethal kickboxing.
• Maria co-founded the organization Dream Yard Drama Project for Kids, a not-for-profit arts and education program for children in Harlem.
