• Ingrid made her debut in 1934 in Sweden. Her movie "Intermezzo" earned her the attention of American producer David O. Selzneck who invited her to Hollywood to make an American version of the film.
• After years of acting, Ingrid had the sweet and wholesome persona which she tried to change by taking on roles other those full of innocence and sorrow. She played little vixens and prostitutes to turn her image around a bit.
• In 1949, Ingrid left her husband Dr. Peter Lindstrom for Italian director Robert Rossellini. This caused tremendous scandal on the Hollywood screen and Ms. Bergman's films were banned from America for seven years.
• Ingrid and Robert had three children, including Isabella Rossellini. She also had a daughter with her first husband.
• Her ashes were scattered at sea, off the coast of Sweden.
• After her affair, Ingrid was denounced on the floor of the U.S. Senate, calling her "Hollywood's apostle of degradation."
