• Susan hails from a huge Catholic family. She is the oldest of nine children.
• Susan's father was a big band singer turned producer/advertising executive.
• Attending Catholic prepatory schools, one of the nuns described Susan as "having an overabundance of original sin."
• Susan is very active in politics. Her political awareness began as a high school student. Her involvement in Vietnam and Civil Rights protests found her in handcuffs.
• Susan attended the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. and studied drama.
• Susan married another drama student, Chris Sarandon before her senior year in 1967. They divorced in 1979.
• Like many other Hollywood beauties, Susan's career began as a model for the Ford Agency in New York.
• Susan has a daughter, Eva, with Italian director Franco Amurri.
• Susan and long-time companion Tim Robbins, have two sons Jack and Miles. The two consider themselves married under the "common-law" rule.
• Susan is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
