• Eugene moved to Pasadena, California in the 70's with his two friends, the late John Candy and Joe Flaherty. The threesome had dreams of a business venture, but the dreams failed.
• Eugene graduated from McMaster University in Ontario. He met 'SCTV' cronies Martin Short, Dave Thomas, Ivan Reitman and Doug Henning while studying drama at the school.
