• Amy is married to director Brad Silberling. They have one daughter named Charlotte. They met on the set of NYPD.

• Amy's mother was one of the first women to graduate from Harvard. She served as a superior court judge, and was the inspiration behind Amy's television series, "Judging Amy."
• While a student at Harvard, Amy spent a semester abroad in Nepal studying sacred dances.
• Amy formed the Cornerstone Theater Company during college. The production company traveled to small towns and encouraged the residents to act in classic plays they would produce.
• Amy was a teacher in Brooklyn until she started acting in 1992.
• Amy is the middle child of three. She has an older and a younger brother.
• She is the creator and executive producer of "Judging Amy."
