• Harland was a media arts student at Sheridan College in Ontario but dropped out to pursue a career in comedy.
• His brother is Steve "Spaz" Williams, director of the animated film The Wild for Disney.
• Harland is a big comic fan and created his own comic character. He has written children's books from some of his characters.
• Pop group The Barenaked Ladies' Kevin Hearn is a cousin of Harland.
