• Martin is married to Janet Templeton. They have been married since 1961.
• Martin failed his college entrance exam to the University of Dayton on purpose just so he could pursue his acting career, much to the dismay of his father.
• Martin has several children whom are Hollywood stars themselves. Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez, Renee Estevez and Ramon Estevez are all actors too.
• Martin was arrested in 2000 for trespassing at California's Vandenberg Air Force Base while protesting a missile defense program. He was sentenced to three years probation in 2001 for the incident.
• His real name is Ramon Estevez.
• Martin's mother died when he was very young.
• Martin's father was Hispanic and his mother was Irish. He grew up with 10 siblings.
