• Franka studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York.

• A casting agent followed her around a bar and kept staring. Franka became very concerned when she followed her to the ladies' room and watched her in the mirror. Finally, she asked Franks to describe herself in one sentence and told the young girl she was a casting agent.
• Franka used to date Tom Tykwer, whom she met in 1998 while filming Run Lola Run.
• Franka always wanted to do a movie with director Todd Solondz (Happiness). She says she "stalked" him for a part in Storytelling. She just wanted to work with him, if even for a day and even free.
• Franka's current boyfriend is actor Elijah Wood.
