• Elijah's career in entertainment begain with local commericials and modeling jobs in his hometown. They moved to Los Angeles in 1988 after he won a talent contest.
• Elijah has one older brother, Zack, and one younger sister, Hannah.
• His first on-screen experience was in Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" music video.
• Melissa Joan Hart wanted Elijah to co-star with her in Drive Me Crazy, believing it would be less pressure for her to act with Elijah. Directors thought he looked too young next to her so they gave to part to Adrien Grenier.
• As of January, 2002, Elijah lives in the guest house behind his mother.

When auditions began for Lord Of The Rings, Elijah was busy filming The Faculty but he wanted more than anything to audition for the movie. So, he discussed the issue with a director friend and the two taped an audition tape and sent it to be viewed.
