• Julie is married to Blake Edwards.
• Julie has one daughter, Emma, from her first marriage to Tony Walton.
• Julie and her husband Blake have raised five children together. Her daughter Emma, his children Jennifer and Geoffrey and two adopted Vietnamese girls Amy and Joanna.
• Julie made her Broadway debut when she was 19 years old. She was an instant star.
• Julie is known for her beautiful four-octave singing voice.
• In 1998, Julie underwent throat surgery which put a halt to her singing. The surgery resulted in more problems and a malpractice suit filed by Ms. Andrews. The lawsuit was settled out of court.
• Julie's real last name was Wells. Her parents divorced when she was four and her mother remarried. Julie became part of her mum and step-father's singing act so they changed her name to keep things "simplified."
• Julie is also an author of children's books.

Mary Poppins (1964)
When studios put the musical My Fair Lady on the big screen, they decided against Julie (and chose Audrey Hepburn) for the film version because she had no film experience. Ironically, Julie was chosen as Mary Poppins and won the Best Actress Oscar that year.
