• A bit strange, though interesting...John's favorite childhood memory is visiting a scrap yard and seeing real blood on the front seat of a wrecked car.
• All of John's movies are filmed in Baltimore, his hometown. This is his biggest trademark.
• Quote: "To me, bad taste is what entertainment is all about. If someone vomits watching one of my films, it's like getting a standing ovation. But one must remember that there is such a thing as good bad taste and bad bad taste."
• When he was young, John would go to the drive-in and watch adult only movies through his binoculars.
• John has an obsession with real crime stories, especially gory detailed stories. He travels across the country to sit in on the trials.
